the initial problem/need

In order to ensure the best-possible enducation for students, the management team wanted to ensure the latest technology and teaching aids were available to teachers acorss all subject matter, and in all classrooms. This technology extended beyond simple projection systems and also included computers, structured cabling (data) outlets, and all necessary electrical services.

At the time Golden Grove High School had only a handful of audio visual systems available for teaching staff in a few select rooms acorss the campus. The desire was to provide greater access to audio visual and projection technology to the teachers. Due to the extent of the expense, the project was budgeted for and spread across 2 consecutive years.

the challenges

The challenge for any school based- installation is gaining access to the space concerned. Whether it’s a standard classroom or a common space such as the resource centre/libarary, the primary concern is ensuring that classes are disrupted as little as possible. It was therefore decided that the project was rolled out throught the end of year school holiday break.

how the solution was implemented

The ~25 unique installations were tackled by two teams of highly talented (and licensed) technicians, each skilled in telecommunications, audio visual installations, and electrical services.

Each digital classroom consisted of the following Bill of Materials;

  • LCD Projector
  • Projector ceiling mount
  • 84″ Manual Pull Down Screen
  • Two speaker audio system and amplification
  • Custom input wall plate
  • Dual Cat 5 Structured Cabling Outlet and associated data communications upgrades to existing infrastructure
  • Power Points and GPO’s and associated upgrades to existing infrastructure
  • All necessary cabling, conduits and fittings for a professional and compliant finish

the outcomes

At the projects’ conclusion, all relevant rooms were fitted with the ‘digital classroom’ audio visual systems. The rooms were fully cleaned by the installation team, and returned to the normal operating state and handed back over to the school prior to the agreed deadline.
